Commercial Metal Fabrication Factory
A fast growing metalwork fabrication company local to K. A. Stripp Ltd had constructed a new factory, and asked for our assistance to provide a renewable heating system capable of heating and cooling the factory floor.
We installed a system of six Nibe F2040-16 kW air source heat pumps. These heat pumps extract heat from the outside air and use it to heat the factory floor, toilets, and showering blocks. By combining six units, we ensured that there is enough heating capacity for the entire facility.
For effective heating and cooling, we used Jaga Briza and Jaga high-level unit heaters. These are high-performance heaters that distribute warm or cool air evenly throughout the space, ensuring a comfortable environment.
In the toilet and shower areas, we installed standard Stelrad compact radiators. These are reliable and efficient radiators connected with durable stainless steel pipes. The heating system is divided into separate zones: two zones for the factory floor and one for the toilet and shower areas. This zoning allows for precise control and efficiency, managed by user-friendly Heatmiser Neostats, which are simple thermostats that let users adjust the temperature easily.
Hot water is provided by a 300-litre Joule High Gain unvented cylinder. This type of cylinder is designed to deliver hot water quickly and efficiently. It includes a secondary hot water circuit, which ensures that hot water is available immediately throughout the facility. This circuit is controlled by timers and PIR (passive infrared) sensors, which detect movement and ensure that hot water is supplied only when needed, saving energy.
The pipework used in the system includes a combination of copper, stainless steel, and multilayer plastic (Uponor) pipes. Copper and stainless steel are known for their durability and resistance to corrosion, while multilayer plastic pipes offer flexibility and ease of installation. All connections are made with press fittings, which are reliable and quick to install, ensuring a secure and leak-free system.
Heat emitters were chosen to give good heat outputs. along with the cooling facility were a combination of Jaga Briza and Jaga high level unit heaters.
